As tube strikes may occur on 26th of March, when our London Emirates Stadium event takes place, please see the following advice. There are a number of alternative travel options available.
We are currently monitoring the situation. It looks as though there will not be a tube service shutdown, and reduced services will be running on most lines. This is because only a potential 50% of the workforce will be on strike. So, during the time you will be travelling to the venue the tube service should be fine to use.
If the strike goes ahead, it is expected to begin at 12 pm on that day. So, services will be running until that point and will most likely continue afterwards with a reduced capacity.
The Emirates Stadium is very well connected to other transport options in the case that tube lines are closed. Finsbury Park, Highbury & Islington and Upper Holloway (which are a 10-minute walk to the stadium) have a number of overground lines which will be running a normal service. Some schools may also be lucky enough to be connected to Drayton Park, which is the closest station and arrives next to the stadium. Some schools may also be able to use local buses.
Overground lines which run to Highbury and Islington are:
-
Mildmay Line (North London Line):
Connects to Stratford (East) and Richmond/Clapham Junction (West) via Camden Road, Gospel Oak, and Willesden Junction.
-
Windrush Line (East London Line):
Connects to many stations including West Croydon, Crystal Palace, and Clapham Junction via Dalston Junction, Whitechapel, and Canada Water.
