Anglia Ruskin University

Whether you study at our Cambridge or Chelmsford campus, Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) guarantees access to great academic opportunities for students of all backgrounds. Since being granted university status over two decades ago, ARU has become one of the largest institutions in east England, catering to the needs of over 30,000 students and sending many into professions such as teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work. While ARU is the country’s largest provider of undergraduate courses in the medical field, we are also the largest provider of courses related to Architecture, Building and Planning. We also offer degree courses in the field of Mass Communication and Documentation.

With facilities dedicated to eight key faculties of world-leading research, students are immersed in a melting pot of ideas and innovations throughout their university life at ARU. We have invested over £81m over the past five years -- and plan to spend a further £90m over the next five -- ARU boasts a host of laboratories (including specialist forensic and sports science laboratories), libraries, theatres, hospital wards, art galleries, language labs, a university eye clinic, mock courtroom and multimedia sound and recording studios.

We pride ourselves at ARU on our reputation for creating opportunity for all students. On average, around 90% of our yearly intake of students consists of applicants from state schools. At the same time, we are ranked 3rd in the country for our 'Welcome, Arrival and Orientation Programme' for all new international students (according to the 2010 International Student Barometer). However, domestic applicants need not worry -  just as much attention and pastoral care is available to the rest of the student body, with ARU’s Student Services offering a range of academic advice and careers guidance, counselling and personal support, should students need it. It is worth noting that the university has an extremely generous selection of bursaries for which candidates may apply. These can grant successful applicants up to £3000 off tuition fees, or contribute towards living expenses.
