Loughborough University is Top 10 in every national league table for 2020. It is a single-site campus spread over a vast 440-acre green site among beautiful gardens and open spaces. Consistently praised by students for its unbeatable community spirit, there are endless opportunities to get involved in at Loughborough Students' Union, owned and run entirely by students.


All undergraduate courses offer the option to include a year in industry as part of the degree, giving students the chance to maximise employability skills. In 2017, 93% of undergraduate students who had undertaken a placement year were in graduate-level employment, further study or both, six months after graduating. 


The University’s Careers Network is highly regarded by both students and employers, where students rated Loughborough the number one careers service in the 2017 Student Barometer Survey of students at over 200 universities internationally. In 2017, 94% of graduates from Loughborough University were in work or further study within 6 months of graduating. 87% of graduates were in professional / managerial or graduate level further study within six months of graduation compared to 76% nationally.


The University boasts some incredible facilities, including the brand new STEMLab which is part of a £25 million investment into the west side of campus, making it one of the UK’s leading centres of excellence for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The University is proud of its reputation for sport, ranked best university in the world for sports-related subjects in 2019.


One of the top 20 research-led universities in the country, Loughborough is renowned for the relevance of its work, driven by society’s need for solutions to real-life issues. The results help business and industry to compete more effectively and shape public policy.


With more than 170 clubs and societies, plus a student magazine, TV and radio station, students love the range of societies on offer, as well as the people they’re meeting and the activities they’re experiencing. It’s no wonder Loughborough came third in the Clubs and Societies category at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2019, entering the top 5 for the sixth year running.  Furthermore, Loughborough Students’ Rag raises over £1 million for local and national charities every year. 



Loughborough University is located in the heart of the UK in the county of Leicestershire. The campus is a fifteen-minute walk from the town centre – there’s also a shuttle bus that runs through campus and into the town centre at regular intervals. The larger cities of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby are nearby, as are tourist attractions the Peak District and Bradgate Park.


Everything students need can be found on campus, but Loughborough town is also within walking distance and is home to a variety of additional shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants, as well as two cinemas and an escape room.


The Students’ Union have their own building containing a coffee bar, shop, Chinese restaurant, hairdressers, pharmacy and many other services. At night, the building becomes a nightclub with capacity for 4,000. Loughborough ranks 2nd for Students’ Union in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2019.


Loughborough University London, established exclusively for postgraduates, is located on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London. It offers innovative and forward-thinking master’s and PhD degrees from one of the world’s most iconic cities.

Loughborough has 16 undergraduate halls of residence to choose from, all situated on or very close to campus. A brand-new Hall of Residence (Claudia Parsons) opened in 2019 and is located at the heart of campus, in close proximity to the Students’ Union and sporting facilities. Designed to provide outstanding recreation and fitness opportunities, students benefit from living in an environment where they can study and relax in spaces specifically designed to support learning, health and wellbeing.


In total there are 7 catered halls and 9 self-catered halls, with a variety of shared/en-suite options to suit all budgets.  


Loughborough were ranked 1st for accommodation by student reviewers in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2019, commenting they find the housing spacious, homely and value for money.
