New College Nottingham

New College Nottingham is one of the largest colleges in the region, with more than 20,000 students at any one time. With more than 30 A Levels, 450 part time courses and well over 100 full time courses (including 50 or so degree level courses) for school leavers as well as adults returning to education. ncn has developed a strong track record in delivering courses that transform lives. ncn is an integral part of the Nottingham community, with centres located throughout this great student city.

The College has a huge economic impact on the region, with the taxpayer receiving an average 10.2% return on their their investment in us each year. We contribute £380m to the local business community annually and the impact of ncn's former learners who are employed in the regional workforce equates to £275m yearly.

We work in partnership with various local, national and international organisations from Disney World®, Capital FM, Thomas Cook, Pine Brook Country Club in Massachusetts to Nottingham Playhouse and Dance4. These partnerships ensure our programmes reflect the realities of the workplace and our facilities remain relevant and up to date. Most of our programmes include work placements and many offer live briefs with employers where you’ll be asked to deliver projects to help solve real-life problems. Our tutors have impressive industry experience and contacts, and you’ll be encouraged to get involved with national competitions. Over the years we’ve had a host of top names dropping in to the College to share their advice and experience with our students, from Wayne Hemingway, Marco Pierre White, Jamie Oliver, to major players at the BBC, Instagram, Facebook, Sky and many more. We’ve even played host to entertainment industry veteran David ‘The Hoff’ Hasselhoff!

Our foundation degrees are awarded either by Nottingham Trent University or the University of Derby, depending on the subject studied. Generally this qualification will take two years to complete, when studied on a full-time basis. Many of our foundation degrees are also offered for study part-time, over the course of three years. After completing your studies you can progress to a further professional qualification, or top up to an honours degree.

With only one more year of full-time study (or two years part-time), you can top up your HND or foundation degree to a full BA (Hons) degree. We offer top-up degrees in a number of subjects, all of which are awarded and validated by Nottingham Trent University.

HNCs and HNDs are vocational qualifications designed to prepare you for the workplace and can be studied either full-time or part-time. An HND carries double the academic credit of an HNC, and our programmes allow you to top up your HNC to an HND. You could potentially enter the second year of a degree with an HNC, or the second or third year with an HND. An HND can also be topped up to an honours degree with an appropriate top-up course.

Some level 5 apprenticeships are also available.

Courses are offered in the fields of Art, Design and fashion; Business Management and Computing; Childcare and the Health Services and Construction and the Built Environment and the college has five campuses.
