University of Salford
Salford is an ambitious University, with our students contributing enormously to the local economy and our expertise transforming individuals and communities through excellent teaching, research, innovation and engagement.
We are leading in areas including health, energy, media and the built environment and have completed impressive work with business and industry partners. Today the University has a successful global presence and a turnover of £189m. Our 4 colleges, 9 schools, 20,000 students and 2,500 staff have all grown to serve the needs of industry, commerce and education.
At Salford, our undergraduates don't fit into one mould. In fact, at Salford, there’s no such thing as a typical student:
Over half of our first year undergraduates are over 21 Over 2,500 undergraduates study part-time Over half of our students are from the local area Over 700 of our undergraduates are from overseas We are equally likely to accept students with BTECs and Access qualifications as well as those with A levels We recognise work and life experience can count towards entry to a programme if you don't have formal qualifications
With the opening of our MediaCity campus (right next to the BBC) we now have four campuses. Three are within a 10 minute walk of each other and the fourth, at MediaCity, is connected via a free bus service that runs every 10 minutes. We’re also continuing to invest heavily in our campus and facilities, to ensure you get a great university experience.
In September 2015 the doors will open to our new £81m student accommodation complex with en-suite bedrooms and an on-site cinema room, gym, TV and games room, group study lounges and a launderette. Students will also benefit from shops, restaurants and cafés nearby as part of the lively campus environment.
The University is also investing £55m in the New Adelphi Building which will open to students and staff in early 2016. This building will be home to the School of Arts & Media among other subject areas and will provide a contemporary gateway to the campus. Facilities will include new lecture theatres and learning spaces, a theatre, recording and photography studios, café areas, performance and rehearsal spaces.
